What it is

Pages of empty guitar chord diagrams: six vertical lines for the strings, horizontal lines for the frets, with space for the chord name above and fingering below.

How to use it

  • Print at 100% on A4 or US Letter.
  • The thick line at the top is the nut. For chords higher up the neck, write the fret number next to the first fret.
  • Use dots for fretted notes, O above a string for open, X for a string you don't play.
  • Write finger numbers (1 = index, 4 = pinky) under the strings.

Ideas

  • Collect chord voicings you find, with a name and where you discovered them.
  • Write out the chords of a progression in one key, for example the diatonic chords of G major.
  • Copy shapes from the chord builder and the open chords chart to memorise them.

Read triads and seventh chords. Name any shape with the chord identifier. Playing ukulele? Use the ukulele chord boxes.
