Treble Clef Note Reading – Level 2
Write the letter name of each note under the staff. This sheet adds notes on ledger lines below the staff (down to A3, including middle C) and above it (up to C6). Count ledger lines carefully, then check your answers with the key.

Goal
Read treble clef notes outside the staff reliably, especially middle C (C4), the notes just below it and the high notes up to C6.
How to practise
- Revise the staff notes first; level 1 should feel easy before you start.
- Learn the ledger-line landmarks: middle C has one ledger line below the staff, A5 one above it, C6 two above.
- From a landmark, read by steps: line, space, line. Don't count all the way from the staff each time.
- Complete one row, check it, then continue. Repeat the whole sheet on another day and compare your time.
Self-check
Mark any wrong answers and note whether you were one step off (miscounted a ledger line) or completely off (confused the clef). Miscounts improve with slow, careful reading; confusion means going back to the staff landmarks.
Next steps
Practise ledger lines in the note reading trainer by widening the range. Then try treble clef level 3 with key signatures and accidentals.
