Goal

Recognise every note on the treble clef staff, from E4 on the bottom line to F5 on the top line, quickly and without counting.

How to practise

  • Learn the lines (E G B D F) and the spaces (F A C E) as two groups first.
  • Do the sheet once slowly with full accuracy. Then do it again and time yourself.
  • Repeat the sheet on three different days. Your goal is to name every note in under two seconds.
  • Say each note aloud, and if you play an instrument, play it too: it links the symbol with the sound and the finger position.

Self-check

Compare with the answer key and circle every mistake. Mistakes usually cluster around one or two notes; drill those with the note reading trainer in treble clef mode.

Next steps

Read the lessons on note names and the staff and clefs. When this sheet feels easy, move on to treble clef level 2.
